BLM Schedules Pile Burns in Yavapai County

2/14/24

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is set to conduct a series of controlled burns in Yavapai County this month. Juniper piles are scheduled for burning on 50 acres of public land near Skull Valley. Additionally, 30 acres of tree piles will be ignited near Yarnell.

These burns are aimed at opening wildlife corridors, reducing predator cover, and enhancing foraging opportunities for wildlife. They also contribute to lowering fuel loads to lessen the intensity of wildfires and their impact on nearby communities.

Area residents may observe light smoke during these pile burns. No local road closures are anticipated.
