Local scoreboard from the weekend, wrestling, at the high school state tournament, Prescott’s Wyatt Rewerts won the state championship in his weight class. Wallace Stooks finished third and Adam Lloyd was sixth. For the girls, both Gianna May and Gaby Zito went 1-2.
For Bradshaw Mountain, Gabe Ricketts placed third, and Jax Harcey, Deion Zamora, and Carlos Villarreal all ended up fourth. As a team the Bears placed ninth.
Chino Valley’s Lyric Brooks and Caden Call went 1-2 for the boys. On the girls side, Brooklyn Bates went 3-2, Ali Estala was 1-2, and Kaydee Richards finished 0-2.
For Mayer, Dustin Oen earned a fifth place finish.
Embry-Riddle finished third at the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament. Keller Rock was the runner-up at 165 pounds. Allen Hendricks, Jonah Chew, Daniil Gorshkov, and Kenneth Copley all placed third in their weight classes. Colby Evens and Christian Lopez were both fourth, and Landon Smith placed fifth.
The Bradshaw Mountain boys soccer team got shutout by Flagstaff 2-0 in the Elite Eight of state.
In basketball, for the guys, Yavapai got swept by Eastern Arizona 82-55 and 102-70. Ray Glasgow notched 26 points in the second game. Ladies, Yavapai College lost to Eastern Arizona 67-48 and 70-43. Kishyah Anderson garnered 21 points in the first game.
The Yavapai College baseball team got swept by Pima 2-1 and 3-0.
The Embry-Riddle softball team went 2-3 at the NFCA tournament. Claire Streeter notched two wins and 23 strikeouts.
Track and field, at the NAU Tune-Up, Embry-Riddle’s Demetrius Love finished fifth in the men’s three-thousand meter run. Tiffany Terry placed fourth in the women’s three-thousand.
The brackets are set for the 4A Conference basketball state tournament. The boys begin play Wednesday, with #6 Prescott home to face #11 Arizona College Prep and #15 Bradshaw Mountain at #2 Mesquite. Both games tip off at 7 p.m., and KYCA will broadcast and livestream the Prescott/AZ College Prep game. On Thursday, the #14 Prescott girls are at #3 Flagstaff at 7 p.m.
