The bullpen came through big time for the Yavapai College baseball team. Chase Blease and Austin Humphries shut out Cochise through the final three innings of game one, allowing zero hits, as the Roughriders got the 3-2 win Tuesday down in Douglas. Mason Saint Hilarie, Nick Miller, and Pierce Radke each drove in a run. Ryan Pruitt scored twice. Traig Oughton was the winning pitcher.
Luck was not with YC in the second game, as the Apaches broke a 5-5 tie in the eighth inning to come away 8-5 winners. Pruitt went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Yavapai. That puts the Roughriders record at an even 7-7 on the season.
Yavapai is home this Saturday to face Arizona Western in a double-header. First pitch is at noon. Next Tuesday, the Roughriders travel to South Mountain.
