The Prescott National Forest and Bureau of Land Management are looking at protecting more than 3,700 acres of land along the Hassayampa River corridor. Representatives from both agencies will hold a public meeting next Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Prescott Public Library to discuss the proposal. The corridor is home to unique plant life, as well as the Mexican spotted owl and the Cooper’s hawk.
If the plan is approved, it would protect the corridor from new mining operations for a period of 20 years.
