ERAU Basketball Teams Succumb to Antelope Valley in Regular Season Finale

Saturday brought about the final games of the regular season for the Embry-Riddle basketball teams, with the women trying to secure the number one seed in the Cal Pac Conference Tournament. The Lady Eagles went into halftime with a 35-31 lead over Antelope Valley, but the Lady Pioneers outscored the Lady Eagles 21-9 in the third quarter. Riddle fought back in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overtake Antelope Valley and lost 69-59. Aryana Gonzales posted 16 points and Zakiirah King garnered 12 points.

The Embry-Riddle men, meanwhile, trailed Antelope Valley by just two points at halftime, but the Pioneers went on a scoring frenzy in the second half and defeated the Eagles 87-64. Dennis Pomazanov registered 23 points and 12 rebounds for Riddle, and Christmas Togiai notched 17 points.

The Riddle men finish the season at 8-19. The women are 16-12 and will be in Merced, California this Saturday to face Westcliff in the opening round of the conference tournament.
