YC Baseball Drops Two to AZ Western

2/27/24

With a 1-3 start to their conference schedule, the Yavapai College baseball team hoped home field advantage would work in their favor as they hosted Arizona Western Saturday. Game One saw the Roughriders go up 2-0 after four innings, but the Matadors hung a four-spot on YC in the sixth inning, then tacked on another run in the seventh. Yavapai rallied in the bottom of the seventh, but fell short and lost to Western 5-4. Mason Saint Hilarie doubled and drove in a run for the Roughriders. Riley Nelson, Ryan Pruitt, and Bradshaw Mountain alum Elias Avila each had an RBI.

In Game Two, offense was not a problem for YC as they plated nine runs. The Matadors, however, almost tripled that amount as they knocked off Yavapai 23-9.

The Roughriders fall to 7-9 on the season and are 1-5 in ACCAC play. Yavapai is at South Mountain today and home versus Eastern Arizona this Saturday.
