The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management reports progress in the battle against the 3,800-acre human-caused Aubrey Wildfire, burning on both sides of Route 66 near Seligman. Agency spokeswoman Tiffany Davilla notes that this encompasses more than one wildfire. There was actually 12 fires, with three of the major fires becoming the Aubrey Fire.
Davilla states that the wind-driven fire is 40% contained and burning in dense grass, posing no danger to any structures and resulting in no injuries. Davilla suggests that the nature of this incident indicates it was likely caused by sparks from a vehicle dragging tow chains down the roadway.
