The number of people dying from drug overdoses in Yavapai County continues to decline. The county’s anti-drug organization, MATFORCE, announced that overdose deaths in Yavapai have dropped for the third year in a row. Between 2020 and 2023, overdose deaths in Yavapai County declined by 20 percent.

Former County Attorney Sheila Polk, who chairs the MATFORCE Board of Directors, said, “In a time when our nation and neighboring states are seeing crushing rates of overdose deaths, Yavapai County residents have worked together to reduce substance abuse in our communities. Together, we continue to make change.”
