Dispatchers at the Prescott Regional Communications Center had a busy year in 2023, according to the Prescott Police Department. The center received 178,000 calls during the year, with 53,140 of those being 9-1-1 calls and 122,196 classified as non-emergency calls. Among these calls, 87,170 resulted in first responders being dispatched, with 35,519 dispatched by the police department, 26,445 by the fire department, and 25,206 by EMS services.
Additionally, the communications center handled 2,664 9-1-1 texts. Police officials emphasized that calling 9-1-1 remains the most effective way for dispatchers to gather information, while 9-1-1 texting is better suited for individuals with hearing or speech disabilities.
