Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority Chief Scott Freitag was “transitioned” out of his position at Monday’s meeting of the CAFMA Governing Board.

A statement released Tuesday afternoon by CAFMA on its Facebook page read, “Fire Chief Scott Freitag dedicated 11 years of service to the CAFMA community. As part of a new direction, our Board of Directors has made the decision to transition leadership.

“Effective immediately, Assistant Chief of Operations John Feddema will assume the role of interim fire chief. With 24 years of service to the organization, Chief Feddema is prepared to lead our committed team and uphold our promise of delivering high-quality fire and emergency medical services to our community.
