Residents of Prescott, Chino Valley, and surrounding areas may notice smoke in the sky, but not to worry. Prescott National Forest crews continue to burn piles of debris in and around the Prescott Basin. The pile burning is expected to continue through the end of the year as favorable weather conditions allow.
Pile burning helps reduce hazardous fuels in the wildland-urban interface and increases ecosystem and community resilience.
In the interest of safety, forest visitors are reminded to obey all traffic signs and use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the pile burns, as firefighters and fire-related traffic will be in the area.
