Highway 89, which has been closed in the Granite Dells following an effluent line break more than a week ago, could possibly re-open later today, more than a week ahead of initial repair estimates. On Monday evening’s KYCA PM show, Janet Ramsey, Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of Prescott, said that six inches of asphalt had been installed over the repaired area of the damaged pipeline and roadbed on Monday, and after it has cooled, some final work would need to be completed before Highway 89 could be reopened, which could be this afternoon. This is the second time in six months Highway 89 was forced to close due to a break in the effluent line. We will update you later this afternoon if and when Highway 89 is re-opened.
