The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office dealt with a bomb scare last Thursday morning. During a traffic stop on I-17 in Rimrock, a Sheriff’s Deputy became suspicious of the vehicle and deployed his K9. The dog detected a strong chemical smell coming from the vehicle. During their initial search, they discovered what looked to be a homemade explosive device.
The DPS Bomb Squad was called in to investigate. They found the device was connected to a set of batteries, but no ignition source. At that point, it was determined not to be an explosive device.
