Sean Underhill Named “Leave No Trace” Advocate of the Year

The “Experience Prescott, Office of Tourism” announced Sean Underhill has been named the “Leave No Trace 2024 State Advocate of the Year” by the Leave No Trace National Organization. This award honors individuals, agencies, businesses, and organizations who are dedicated to pursuing and educating others on the Leave No Trace mission.

Since 2023, Underhill has been a state advocate, taking the initiative to be included in numerous events and service projects around Prescott.

“This award is very well deserved,” said Joe Baynes, City of Prescott Recreation Services Director. “He shows a strong interest in community-wide education on the importance of preserving nature.”

Baynes added Underhill’s enthusiasm came to fruition when he formed a Leave No Trace-focused Junior Ranger program, as well as helping with Prescott’s monthly Nature Niños community outreach events. Sean also initiated a new trail-building project with the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona.
