Shoes Aid in B&E Arrest in Cottonwood

He was done in by his shoes. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, on March 1st, deputies and officers from the Cottonwood Police Department detained a man found sleeping in a vacant house. The man was also suspected of illegally entering other homes the previous day.

Then on March 2nd, sheriff’s deputies received a call from a concerned neighbor saying a house in their neighborhood was possibly burglarized. When deputies arrived, they noticed a smashed glass door, partially eaten food, and clothes and hygiene products strewn about. After speaking with the homeowner, deputies learned at least one pair of shoes had gone missing from the home, and an unclaimed pair had been left behind.

Deputies later spoke with Cottonwood Police and discovered the detained suspect from the day before had specifically mentioned the shoes he was wearing. Upon further investigation, deputies determined the shoes belonged to the suspect, connecting him to both break-ins.
