Ash Fork Arsonist Gets 5 Years in Prison

Five years. That’s how long a former Ash Fork firefighter will spend in prison for deliberately setting fires. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reports Karson Nutter received the five-year sentence for his months-long arson spree.

Back in 2023, Nutter set several fires around the Ash Fork community. This included two abandoned homes and a Mobile station. He also was responsible for starting two wildfires along a Forest Service road.

After being arrested, Nutter gave several reasons for starting the fires. They ranged from boredom to retaliation against his former employer to the homes he set fire to being “ugly.”
