Monday just wasn’t Yavapai’s day on the baseball field as they came up short to number 21 ranked Central Arizona 11-9. Tuesday, the Roughriders were determined to make up for it when the two sides met again in a double-header.
Game one turned out to be a pitchers’ duel with the ’Riders and the Vaqueros combining for just five hits. Luckily for YC, one of those hits was by Justin Cherrington, who drove in the only run of the game for the 1-0 victory. Collin Adams was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.
Game two had a lot more offense to it, and once again YC came out on top 12-6. Cherrington went 5-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs. Kevin Ramos had two RBIs. Liam Richards went 4-for-4 with three runs scored.
YC is 26-16 overall and 17-13 in conference play. Yavapai is on the road this Saturday at Glendale College.
