The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for the Tri-City area. This is due to the combination of high winds and low humidity predicted for later this week. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 40 miles per hour by Friday.
Right now, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is very high, and Yavapai County is under Stage One fire restrictions. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark. Also, make sure no chains are dragging from your vehicle, as that can throw out sparks. Do not park on grass, as heat from under your vehicle can ignite the vegetation, and do not throw cigarettes out your car window.
The fire weather watch covers most of northern Arizona and is in effect through Saturday.
