As the Prescott area maintains warmer temperatures, residents can expect to see more rattlesnakes.
The Town of Prescott Valley reports Animal Services have already relocated 10 rattlesnakes this summer. They remind residents to wear heavy work gloves when working outside, ensure all home openings are closed or sealed, keep grass short, wear shoes when outside, and use a rake to identify any snakes before beginning a garden project.
The town says to always call 911 first in the event of a snake bite and to have someone drive the victim to the nearest hospital. The Yavapai Regional Medical Center has confirmed both campuses are stocked with rattlesnake anti-venom. Never drive after being bitten, and call an ambulance if necessary.
