Road Rage, Gunfire, and Spongebob in Cornville

Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a road rage incident Sunday afternoon off Willow Point Drive in Cornville.

Witnesses reported a driver firing a handgun out his window. Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle, thanks in part to a SpongeBob Squarepants air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror.

Twenty-six-year-old Anthony Sanchez Junior of Phoenix was arrested for aggravated assault, weapons misconduct, and DUI. Investigators say Sanchez tried to run another driver off the road, then pointed a gun at them before firing into the asphalt. No one was injured.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office officials say road rage incidents like this remain a serious concern in Arizona. They urge drivers to stay calm, avoid confrontation, and report dangerous behavior immediately to 911.
