Lots of Newbies for YC Volleyball in 2025

A few returners, and a lot of players from outside the U.S. That’s how the roster looks for the Yavapai College volleyball team for 2025.

One of the key returners for the Lady Riders is Jocelyn Taveras, who last season had 219 assists and 24 blocks. Jezebel Rivas will also be back. She missed last season due to injury. In 2023, Rivas recorded 63 assists and 48 aces. Micah Gardner notched 60 kills and 58 blocks for YC last season.

Some of the promising newcomers for Yavapai include Skylar Schwartz from Volcano Vista High School in New Mexico. She was an all-district and all-metro selection. Ralynn De Jesus is an all-region libero from Valley Vista High School in Surprise. Destiny Matthews is a middle blocker from Detroit who won numerous awards with her club team.

The Lady Riders will also have players from Brazil, Colombia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Canada, Bolivia, Turkey, and Trinidad and Tobago. Yavapai opens the season August 22nd at the Arizona Western Tournament.
