Cottonwood Police Arrest Suspect in Bank Robbery

Cottonwood police have arrested a suspect in connection with last month’s robbery at the First Convenience Bank inside Walmart.

On August 21, a man handed a note to a teller demanding cash, then fled on foot with a substantial amount of money.

After weeks of investigation, Cottonwood detectives—working with Phoenix police—arrested 19-year-old Johnathan Pirvulescu on Tuesday. A search of his Phoenix home uncovered additional evidence linked to the crime.

Pirvulescu is now in the Yavapai County Jail, facing felony charges of robbery and theft. His bond is set at $25,000.

Authorities credit advanced technology, community tips, and inter-agency cooperation in leading to Pirvulescu’s apprehension.
