A good start for the Yavapai College volleyball team. They battled Arizona Western all through the first set Wednesday and came out of it with a 25-22 victory. Set two ended with the same score, but this time, the number 20 ranked Lady Matadors were the winners. Western owned set three with a 25-13 win. Y-C fought back in set four and got close to the Lady Matadors, but fell short, losing 25-19 and dropping the match 3-1.
Micah Gardner posted eight kills for the Lady Riders. Destiny Matthews garnered seven kills. Hedi Mayerhoffer notched five kills. McKenzie Wright recorded 13 assists and ten digs. Jezebel Rivas made six digs.
Yavapai is now 5-8 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. They are on the road for their next four matches; tomorrow at Southern Nevada, September 26th and 27th at Arizona Western, and September 30th at Ottawa University.
