Part of Lynx Lake Closed to Protect Bald Eagles

A section of the trail near Lynx Lake in Prescott National Forest will be closed for bald eagle nesting season starting next Monday. The John’s Tank Trail — Trail 94 — will be closed through June 30th to prevent disturbance to nesting eagles. The one-mile stretch connects the Lynx Lake Shore Trail to the Salida Gulch Trail. The other trails will remain open.

Visitors are prohibited from entering the restricted area or using the closed trail. Violations can result in fines under federal regulations.

The Forest Service says disturbances during egg incubation or shortly after hatching could cause nest failure. Trail cameras will monitor compliance.
