One final game before Christmas for the Mayer basketball teams. Both squads took the bus to Glendale last night to face Desert Heights Prep.
The goal for the Mayer boys was simple — get their first win of the season. That’s exactly what the Wildcats did, as they smoked the Coyotes 57-33. Both Uriah Romero and Eden Otero tallied 17 points. That puts Mayer’s record at 1-6 for the season.
The girls game was a tad closer, with the Lady Cats pulling out the win over Desert Heights Prep 33-24. Taylor McCann posted 12 points, and Isabella Morales chipped in six points. The Mayer girls are now 3-5 on the season and have won two of their last three games.
Both squads are off until the end of the month, when they go to Camp Verde for the annual Yvonne Johnson Memorial Shootout, which begins December 29th.
