ATV Rider Rescued in Mayer

On Tuesday, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 1:30 p.m. that led to a rescue. A 49-year-old man left his home around 6 a.m. for a short ride on his ATV, but his family called the Sheriff’s Office after he had not returned for several hours. YCSO forest patrol and Yavapai Search and Rescue teams began a search of the dirt roads and surrounding neighborhoods, locating him shortly before 5:30 p.m., where he was spotted at the bottom of a wash near his home in Mayer.

He was alert and conscious when he was found, but injuries prevented him from walking or climbing out of the wash on his own. With the help of the Mayer Fire Department, the man was extracted and taken to the hospital.
