Their previous two games saw the Prescott boys soccer team blow out their opponents by identical scores of 9–0. Monday was a much different game for the Badgers as they were up in Flagstaff for a close contest with the Eagles.
The score was tied at the end of regulation, and Prescott took the lead in overtime. That’s where A.J. Poynor came up with one of the biggest saves of his career, stopping a penalty kick to preserve the Badgers’ lead. They would hold on to beat Flagstaff 3–2.
Prescott’s goals came from three different players: Trypp Challenger, Angel Sanchez, and Stoney Booth.
The Badgers have now won three straight games after being shut out in their first two games of January. They are now 5–4 in their power point games and 3–0 in Grand Canyon Region play.
Prescott is back in Flagstaff tomorrow, this time to take on Coconino.
