Former Prescott Area State Rep Noel Campbell Dies at Age 84

Former Arizona State Representative Noel Campbell, who represented Legislative District One — including the Prescott area — has died at the age of 84.
Campbell served three terms in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2015 to 2021, where he was known for his steady leadership and for chairing the House Transportation Committee.

Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro said Campbell, quote, “lived a life defined by service,” praising his dedication to Arizona and extending condolences to his wife, Mary Beth, and his family.

Before entering state politics, Campbell served his country as a United States Navy combat aviator during the Vietnam War, later retiring as a commander in the Naval Reserves. He continued his federal service as a pilot and agent with the United States Customs Service, and later as a wildfire pilot for the U.S. Forest Service.

After retiring from federal service, Campbell moved to Prescott, where he remained active in the community and eventually entered public office, representing northern Arizona at the state Capitol.

Former Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, who also represented the Prescott area, remembered Campbell as a friend and a man deeply committed to public service.
