YCCHS Gives Tips on Spotting Early Signs of Measles

Measles can appear like a cold at first, but officials with Yavapai County Community Health Services say it is important to watch for early signs because it is much more serious. Early symptoms include a cough, runny nose, red, watery eyes, and a high fever. They highlight the presence of tiny white spots inside the mouth two to three days after symptoms appear.

Anyone who suspects they, or their child, has measles should contact their healthcare provider or emergency department immediately. YCCHS officials add residents should call before arrival to prevent unnecessary exposure.
