The Yavapai College men’s basketball team got off to a slow start in Henderson, Nevada last night and found themselves trailing Southern Nevada by 12 points going into halftime. The Roughriders’ offense picked up in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as they lost to the Coyotes 86-66.
Rudolfs Svitins had a huge night for YC. The Latvian registered 28 points. Prescott grad Jason Parent recorded a double-double with 22 points and eleven rebounds. Those were the only Roughriders to score in double figures.
Yavapai falls to 11-16 on the season and has lost four games in a row.
The Yavapai College women’s basketball team started out with a five-point lead over Southern Nevada after the first quarter, but the Lady Coyotes turned it on after that and beat the Lady Riders 76-54.
Bradshaw Mountain alum Giselle Serrano notched 16 points. Kayla Bailey put up 12 points.
YC is now 2-25 on the season.
