Republicans at the State House passed legislation requiring clear labeling on food products made from cultivated cells.
House Bill 2762, sponsored by Prescott-area State Representative Quang Nguyen, would require manufacturers, packagers, or retailers to place a plain-language label on products identifying them as “cell-cultivated” or “cell-cultured.”
The measure is named the “Andy Groseta Act,” honoring the late cattle industry leader who served as president of the Yavapai Cattle Growers Association.
Supporters say the bill sets a straightforward standard so consumers know exactly what they are buying at the point of purchase. Nguyen said Arizona families should not have to decode fine print or marketing claims to understand whether a product is derived from cultivated cells.
H.B. 2762 now heads to the State Senate for consideration.
