PHS Softball Edges Out Coconino

On Tuesday, the Prescott softball team had a close contest with Coconino, taking it 4–2. Thursday would be a much closer affair between the two sides up in Flagstaff. The score was tied 1–1 after two innings of play. The Lady Badgers then went up 4–1 in the top of the fourth inning, only to have the Lady Panthers pull within one in the bottom of the frame. Prescott tacked on a couple of more runs in the late innings, but just like in Tuesday’s game, Coconino mounted a seventh-inning rally. Also, just like Tuesday’s game, Prescott put the brakes on said rally just in the nick of time to secure a 6–5 victory.

Freshman Kaylin Pinnarelli was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts. At the plate, she tripled and drove in four runs. Freshman Amilya Zahn and “Flower Power” Lilly James both scored two runs.

Prescott has a home-and-home series versus Bradshaw Mountain next Monday and Wednesday, and Wednesday’s game will be broadcast on The Team 1450 AM KNOT.
