There were quite a few local wrestlers who put together top-notch seasons, and they earned a spot on the KYCA All-Area Team. Embry-Riddle placed fourth at the national tournament, led by their two national champions Kenny Copley and Yoshi Funakoshi. Daniil Gorshkov and Jayden Luttrell were conference champs, and Trenton Blomquist was a conference runner-up.
For Prescott, their top performers were section champ Jonah Gann, Dayton Shelton, Cash Kasun, Noah Smith, and Dexter Hewitt for the boys, and state runner-up Gianna May for the girls.
Bradshaw Mountain’s standout grappler was Riley Nollett, who finished second at 108 pounds at the state tournament.
Chino Valley’s most successful wrestlers were Jason Aviles, Lyric Brooks, and Wyatt Kunaschk for the boys, and Lilliana Rodriguez and Sophia Hudson for the girls.
