Mackenzie Sanders got it done both in the circle and at the plate Thursday. She threw five strong innings for the Chino Valley softball team, striking out eight while scattering four hits and giving up one earned run. Then she went 2-for-4 with the bat, driving in two runs. That helped the Lady Cougars romp over Odyssey Institute 13-2.
Breanne Petty had three RBIs and scored two runs. Kaydee Richards went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Brooklyn Bates scored two runs and drove in a run.
Chino Valley is now 10-9 overall on the season and 3-3 in North Central Region play. They return to action next Tuesday when they travel to Camp Verde. The following day, they host Bourgade Catholic, then next Friday the Lady Cougars have a rematch with Camp Verde on their home field.
