Prescott City Council has New Process to Promote Decorum at Meetings

The Prescott City Council wants to make sure decorum is maintained during not only its meetings but also at board and commission meetings. City officials say from this point on, the process for discussing items on the agenda will begin with a staff presentation, followed by questions and discussion by council, then discussion with the applicant, then more council discussion. After that, public comment will take place.

City officials ask members of the public to address the item on the agenda and not criticize city staff or the presenters. Any outburst from the audience will result in the gavel from the mayor or commission chairperson. If anyone continues to disrupt the meeting, they may be escorted out of the chambers by a Prescott police officer.
