An Open House to provide information on the recommended cleanup alternative for the Del Pasco Mine Site will be hosted by Prescott National Forest officials on April 27th. It will take place at the Crown King Fire District Station at 397 Main St. between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The U.S. Forest Service is also seeking public comment on the Del Pasco Mine Site Engineering Evaluation Cost Analysis Draft Report which was prepared to identify and evaluate cleanup alternatives to reduce the potential threat to human health and the environment from heavy metals contamination. Past mining operations left over 3,400 cubic yards of waste rock and tailings containing elevated levels of heavy metals. Metal debris, abandoned vehicles, and abandoned drums also pose a safety hazard to site visitors.
