An officer-involved shooting by a Cottonwood police officer on April 12th resulted in the death of the suspect.
The Cottonwood Police Department issued a statement Friday regarding this incident. At around 7:50 p.m., an officer from the Cottonwood Police Department, who has six years of experience in law enforcement, conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of South 12th Street that ended in the death of the suspect. The individual has been identified as 32-year-old Donovan Jelicich, a resident of Cottonwood.
In accordance with standard procedure, the officer has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave. The officer and the patrol vehicle were equipped with recording devices, ensuring a comprehensive incident review.
