Two Pets Killed in Black Canyon City Fire

A 35-year-old Black Canyon City man escaped his burning trailer home, along with his mother, his son, and a family dog. Two other pets, however, did not make it.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the blaze broke out Saturday just before 4 a.m. The owner of the trailer said he had been working on projects around the structure earlier in the day and had left his saw plugged in. While sleeping, he woke to a loud pop and thought someone was knocking on the door or throwing rocks outside. He went to investigate and realized the trailer was on fire near the breaker box, and he alerted his family members.

The residence on Ha Wa Si Trail was a total loss. The Daisy Mountain Fire Department is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
