ERAU Baseball Tops Ben-Mesa in Cal Pac Semis

The Embry-Riddle baseball team did not have any luck against Benedictine-Mesa during the regular season, getting swept in their three-game series with the Redhawks. Yesterday, the Eagles had to once again face Ben-Mesa, the number one seed in the Cal Pac Championship Tournament. Riddle struck quickly with a six-run second inning. But by the seventh inning, the Redhawks had closed the gap. In the top of the ninth, Riddle plated three more runs, and Noah Tschopp shut down Benedictine-Mesa in the bottom of the ninth to secure the 9-4 victory.

Kevin Fedoruk belted a two-run home run. Travis Strickler, Drew Barragan, and Gavin Botts each had two RBIs. Former Yavapai College player Cameron Jowaiszas socked a two-run home run for the Redhawks.

For the first time in their three-year history, Embry-Riddle will play in a Cal Pac Championship game. That takes place today at Mesa’s Ho Ho Kam Park, and they will face Ben-Mesa again. The Redhawks thumped Westcliff 15-2 in the elimination game.
