New Thinning Project Planned for Prescott National Forest

Plans are underway for a thinning project in a section of the Prescott National Forest. The initiative will cover 1,526 acres on both the east and west sides of Ponderosa Park, where contractors will thin trees and vegetation. Although no road closures are anticipated, the public is advised to steer clear of the project areas while equipment is operational.

Mechanical thinning is employed to enhance forest health and reduce hazardous fuels, mitigating potential wildfire damage.
