Standout Performances for Locals at Open T&F State Meet

The best high school track and field athletes from across Arizona gathered at Mesa Community College this past Friday and Saturday for the Open State Meet. Among them were athletes from both Prescott and Chino Valley. That includes the Division Three State Champion Prescott girls 4X400 relay team of Aubrey Kitahata, Wylie Monnett, Kenzie Blanchard, and Violet Williams. They finished eighth in that event at the Open State Meet. The same four girls also finished eleventh in the preliminaries of the 4X100 relay.

Another Prescott athlete who had a top ten finish was freshman Libby Hlavacek, who placed seventh in the girls pole vault. Rylee Hobson had a top 15 finish at the Open State Meet, placing 14th in the girls javelin.

For Chino Valley, Tony Hacke placed eighth in the boys 800 meter run and Quenton Metz was 18th in the boys 1,600 meter run.
