Granite Mt Hotshots Memorial Erected at County Courthouse

The Granite Mountain Hotshot Memorial is now in place in downtown Prescott. With little advance public notice, workers began to cordon off the southeast section of the Courthouse Plaza on Monday morning as supplies and a large crane were moved into place by 10 a.m. The installation of the statue honoring the 19 hotshots and most of the marble was completed yesterday evening.

John Marsh, father of fallen hotshot Eric Marsh and a member of the board of directors of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center, spent most of the day downtown watching the installation of the memorial. He tells The News:

Marsh also commented on the growing number of people visiting the Hotshot Learning and Tribute Center:

No date or plans have yet been announced concerning any future dedication of the memorial.
