NAZ Wranglers Get by Mass Pirates

John Maldanado’s five-yard touchdown run in the waning seconds of the second quarter gave Northern Arizona a two-point lead over Massachusetts going into halftime. In the second half, the Wranglers just managed to stay ahead of the Pirates, though not by much. With just one point separating the two clubs in the final two minutes, NAZ’s defense held strong to secure the 41-40 victory over Massachusetts Saturday.

Joshua Jones threw for 215 yards and five touchdowns for the Wranglers. Kobay White had 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Maldanado recorded 79 receiving yards and two TDs.

Defensively for Northern Arizona, Travion Banks had an interception. Tramond Lofton registered six tackles and a sack. Malik Sonnier had eight tackles.

The Wranglers are 5-3 on the season. They’re back in Prescott Valley this coming Saturday versus the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
