The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has sent out this warning: stay away from the Senator Highway Mine. ADEQ officials say a recent inspection of the mine turned up several issues that pose a threat to the public. These include adits, shafts, tailings, and waste rock that may be unstable and dangerous.
The Senator Highway Mine site is private property, and unauthorized visits may be considered trespassing. ADEQ is monitoring the situation and urges the public to call 602-771-1440 if they notice any changes to the condition of the mine.
