More Prescribed Burns for Prescott National Forest

Prescribed burns are scheduled to begin this week in the Chino Valley Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest. Several locations in the Chino Landscape Project are targeted for burning. These include the Peavine Tank RX, the Page Flat RX, and the Wagon Tire RX. In all, nearly 8,300 acres will be burned. The purpose of these prescribed burns is to reduce the amount of shrub grass and junipers in order to lower the risk of a major wildfire. It also has the added benefit of improving the natural grasslands.

Visitors to this part of the national forest are urged to obey all traffic signs and exercise caution when traveling through the area. All prescribed burns should be completed by the end of the month.
