ERAU Soccer Player Interning With NRC

Summer vacation? Not for this Embry-Riddle soccer player. Forward Madeline Orges is in Atlanta interning with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The agency licenses and regulates the civilian use of radioactive materials. So far, Orges has visited several of the 33 nuclear reactor sites in what is known as Region Two, and even donned protective gear to look at the mechanics behind nuclear energy production.

Orges, a native of Sandy, Utah, is a Global Securities and Intelligence Studies major at Embry-Riddle with a minor in Emergency Management and Planning. She will be a senior this coming school year. Last season for the Lady Eagles, Orges appeared in eight games and recorded two goals and an assist.

In addition to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Orges previously interned with the Prescott Fire Department.
