With monsoon storms expected to start this week, everyone needs to be aware of the dangers posed by lightning. Officials with Yavapai County Emergency Management remind everyone there is no safe place outside during a thunderstorm. If you are caught outside during a storm, seek shelter immediately in an enclosed structure or in your vehicle. You should also avoid wide-open areas as well as tall objects like power poles and trees.
Monsoon storms are forecast to begin in Prescott Thursday and last through the weekend.
