New Head Coach for Yavapai Women’s Basketball

There’s a new bench boss for the Yavapai College women’s basketball team. Shareka Maner has been hired as head coach. She had been the head coach for St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina, for the past two seasons. Before that, Maner was head coach of Grays Harbor College in Washington during the 2020-2021 season. In 2017, she was an assistant coach at Colby Community College before serving as the interim head coach. Maner was also an assistant coach for Colorado Northwestern and at Cochise College, one of Yavapai’s conference rivals.

A native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Maner played college ball at the University of Maine and Henderson State. She takes over from Gerrard Carmichael, who departed as Yavapai’s head coach before the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.
