Cottonwood police and the Verde Valley Fire District rescued a woman and her 8-year-old daughter who were stranded in a river. According to the Cottonwood Police Department, the pair were floating down the Bignotti River Sunday when they became separated from their family and got stranded on a rock. The woman called 911, and police officers and firefighters were able to coordinate their efforts to find the woman and the child.
The two were safely removed from the rock and taken to a rally point. Both the woman and her daughter suffered minor injuries and dehydration from their ordeal.
