APS Could Shut Off Power When Risk of Wildfire is High

APS announced it will shut of power in wildfire-prone areas during periods of high fire danger. The plan, which will go into effect only when necessary, depends on wind speed, humidity, and vegetation conditions.

Affected areas for Yavapai County include Boynton Pass Rd., the Dry Creek Rd. area,
Iron Springs, Pine Lakes, Emmanuel Pines, Highland Pines and Dearing Park, Kirkland, Skull Valley, Poland Junction, Mayer, Potato Patch, Walker, Groom Creek and Wolf Creek.

Residents are advised to have backup power sources for medical equipment and other essentials and to put together emergency kits.
